A major UK insurer had brought HR back in-house after a period of outsourcing. Having successfully recruited the Group HRD, we were delighted to win the mandate to recruit their number two, namely the Head of HR for the largest divisional business unit. The individual needed to have the potential to move into a Director position within a year to eighteen months and ideally would come from outside of financial services in order to bring a different set of experiences and perspective on the role.
The business was highly acquisitive and undergoing major transformation and change. It was imperative, therefore, that candidates had first-hand experience of working in ‘best in class’ customer orientated businesses which had gone through significant growth, change and transformation. Despite numerous challenges which included location and a relatively unknown brand (at the time), we were successful in placing a candidate with the required experience as well as being a strong cultural fit.
We have stayed in regular contact; the candidate was promoted to the Director position after twelve months and became an integral member of the leadership team. We are delighted that our candidate is now a client and friend.
